Leading provider of educational services wins U.S. Army contract

SALEM, Mass. – A nationally recognized educational management company based here and in Woodbridge, Va., has been awarded a U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) foreign language training contract worth more than $30 million over five years.

RMHS, Inc. will provide instruction at more than 80 U.S. Army bases and U.S. Army Reserve Command locations across the country.  The contract is expected to provide more than 160,000 hours of language instruction to Army personnel in 50 foreign languages including but not limited to Arabic, Korean, Persian-Farsi, Russian and Spanish.  The languages taught will depend on the needs of each location and the assignments for which the soldiers must be trained.  RMHS will also provide foreign language training to members of the National Guard.

RMHS was awarded the contract on July 20.  It will begin providing services on September 1, 2007, for a one-year period ending on August 31, 2008.  The contract includes four one-year options for the extension of contract terms and services.

RMHS president and CEO, Robert H. Crosby, said, “I am thrilled with this contract.  Over the past 10 years, RMHS has held many smaller language training contracts.  This contract will elevate us to a new level for language training in the armed forces.  We are proud to have won this contract and are determined to deliver the highest quality services so that our soldiers are prepared for their assignments.”

Each military base approved for foreign language training in this contract will receive a minimum of 80 hours of instruction.  Fort Lewis, Wash., is scheduled for the highest number of instructional hours at 68,036. Fort Bragg, NC (15,360 hours), and Fort Hood, Texas (12,480), are also scheduled for a significant number of training hours.

Divisional vice-president Rochelle Schneickert said, “Providing high-quality training to the members of our armed forces in their target languages is critical to the success of their tactical missions worldwide. RMHS is honored to have the opportunity to support our soldiers in this area.”
