Last year, NESI helped more than 5,500 students who were struggling in mathematics and language arts. Current enrollment exceeds 6,000 students. Title I Reading ProgramNESI’s Title I reading program focuses on developing proficiency in reading and writing and exposes children to a rich variety of multicultural literature. To become proficient readers, young children need to read books that not only emphasize phonic patterns and high frequency words, but also books that offer appealing illustrations and interesting content. NESI strives to engage students in reading with the ultimate goal of creating lifelong readers. Title I Mathematics ProgramThe NESI Title I mathematics program promotes the understanding of fundamental math concepts appropriate to each grade level including numbers and operations, algebra, measurement, data analysis, probability and problem solving. NESI’s instructional program allows students to discover, apply and practice mathematical principles in a variety of innovative, creative and flexible ways.
